- Over 4.3 million people have visited the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum since 1982
- The Museum has become a regional destination drawing over 60 percent of its visitors from outside the Ann Arbor area
- The Museum has set new attendance records for six out of the last
seven years. We average 250,000 visitors annually
- Membership is greater than 4,250 families - a near record!
- 34,000 students visit annually with school and community groups
- Almost 11,500 students annually enjoy our ScienceWorks Labs as part of their school visits
- Distance Learning programs reach students in over 30 states, 5
Canadian provinces and 3 distant countries, including Australia
- Outreach programming is delivered throughout Michigan, including the Upper Pennisula
- Over 5,000 people annually visit the Museum with our birthday party program
- Camp-Ins provide more than 1,500 campers the opportunity to stay overnight at the Museum each year
- After Hours Rentals immerse more than 1,100 people in a fun, science environment annually
- Our exhibits are unique. Most of our collection has been created in-house by our exhibits team working in
collaboration with scientists, researchers, local businesses, regional research and academic communities.
- Versions of our exhibits have traveled to museums across the country.
- Custom exhibits designed and fabricated by the Museum and our partners may be found in museums, libraries and in interactive learning centers across the country.
- The Museum occupies over 40,000 square feet in downtown Ann Arbor
- The Detroit Free Press named us the Best Museum in 2003.
- The Museum has received national recognition by the National Science Foundation, the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Association of Science and Technology Centers and from CILC, the Center for Interactive Learning and Collaboration
- The Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum is consistently rated the Best Kids’ Activity in the annual “Best of Ann Arbor” list
