Reciprocity is a mutual exchange of privileges between two institutions. For example, one science center may allow free or reduced general admission to members of another science center.
Reciprocal benefits are determined by each institution; therefore, benefits may change at any time and without warning. We recommend that you call the institution you plan to attend to confirm their reciprocal status. For example, some museums may limit the number of adults and children or the family relationship of those given free admission. You will need to present your Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum Membership Card and your photo ID to be eligible for reciprocal benefits.
Members of the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum enjoy different reciprocity benefits depending on their level of membership. The Family and Family Plus membership levels include reciprocal benefits with ASTC (Association of Science and Technology Centers). The Family Plus Travel level includes reciprocal benefits with ASTC and ACM (Association of Children’s Museums).
Association of Science and Technology Centers (ASTC)
ASTC policy states that science centers and museums located within 90 miles of each other are excluded from the reciprocal program. Reciprocity with the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum and ASTC institutions within 90 miles is ½ off general admission by mutual agreement. Please check with the museum you intend to visit for current admissions policies.
Association of Children's Museums (ACM)
Museums participating in the ACM reciprocal program offer 50% off general admission for up to six (6) individuals. Cardholder must be present. Please check with the museum you intend to visit for current admissions policies.
