  • Fall 2020 Programs

    Let our in-person outreach programs or virtual distance learning programs provide a COVID-safe educational experience for your school or community group! We have modified some of our most popular programs to address the health and safety of all our community. These updated programs still allow students to be engaged in hands-on, high-energy learning experiences in science, technology and nature while maintaining a safe environment for everyone.

  • Field Trip

    More than 250 interactive science, technology, energy and health exhibits await students of all ages.  We’re experts at making sure that bringing your group to the Museum is smooth sailing all the way. Discounted admission for groups of 20 or more!

  • ScienceWorks

    Your students become scientists during our ScienceWorks Labs. All programs align with National Science Education Standards, Next Generation Science Standards, Michigan Grade Level Content Expectations and Common Core State Standards. Labs are available year-round for preschool to middle school students and are led by an instructor.

  • Outreach

    Our Outreach staff brings the Museum to you—at schools, libraries, community centers, and festivals—by delivering hands-on programming customized to your schedule and curriculum interests.

  • Distance Learning

    Experience live, interactive Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum programs right in your classroom! Our educators use videoconferencing technology to share science and math activities with your students, engaging them in a dynamic, hands-on learning experience.

  • Summer Camp

    Through the Unity in Learning partnership, Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum, Leslie Science & Nature Center, and Yankee Air Museum now offer families incredible day camps at two fantastic locations in Ann Arbor and Belleville.

  • Birthday Parties

    We know how important birthdays are, and while we are not offering our traditional in-person birthday parties, we are happy to help make yours special! We are offering special outdoor in-person birthday experiences for you this year, or you can also consider our virtual distance learning opportunities or even consider booking one of our wildlife to zoom into your party virtually!

Outreach Programs Fall 2020

We are excited to offer select outreach opportunities through October 31st. These programs can come to your outdoor space for schools, scouts, religious facilities and community centers. If you have an outdoor space and can fulfill the following requirements, please give us a call!

General Requirements:

  • This year, outreach programs must be in an outdoor setting to maintain COVID-19 recommended protocols.
  • If there is inclement weather, then organizations can cancel or reschedule.
  • All outdoor settings must have a covered space (shade) for the educator. We are able to provide 1, 10x10 tent if needed.
  • Outreach programs need to have an audience size complying with any local health guidelines, not to exceed 30 people. This is to ensure the comfort, safety, and overall experience of an outdoor program.
  • Audience members must stay at least 10 feet away from any presenter and their belongings. 
  • Audience members, including staff, campers, and participants over 2 years of age are highly encouraged to wear a mask during the program. This is to ensure the safety of our staff, as well as any other visitors that may attend the program. 
  • Audience members will not be allowed to touch any specimens, tools, experiments, or wildlife during and after a program is conducted.
  • Staff will wear a mask for the duration of the program.

Cost:

Program fees start at $200. Please contact us for an exact quote. Variations include: Additional fees for mileage and reduced rates for additional programs scheduled on the same day.

Hunters of the Sky It’s all about survival! Three engaging raptors will visit your site to demonstrate and model their amazing survival characteristics and techniques. Available through October 31st All Ages
Understanding Owls Our owls will engage, delight, and educate your students during a personal visit to your classroom. Classification, conservation, and survival techniques are just a few of the topics we will explore by observing live birds. Available through October 31st All Ages
Cold-Blooded Classification Engage in the world of classification as we focus on a particular cold-blooded animal group: Reptiles! By meeting live reptiles, students will explore the adaptations that make them successful and how scientists compare and contrast these particular cold-blooded creatures. Available through September 30th All Ages
Walking Up a Food Chain Together we will construct a live food chain as your students meet a raptor, reptile, amphibian, arachnid, and an insect. Along the way, we discuss how these animals' lives are connected and learn about the delicate balance that allows them to survive both individually and together as wildlife who share a habitat. Available through September 30th All Ages
