What do I need to bring for admission when I visit?

Please bring your current membership card and a photo ID.

Who is covered under a membership?

All of our levels of membership cover two adults who live in the same household, all of their children and grandchildren, and all of the grandparents. Most memberships are purchased with the parents' names listed, but grandparents can also purchase a membership. Family Plus and Family Plus Premium memberships also include up to 2 guest passes per visit for friends. If you have any questions you can email us at

We have a caregiver that we use regularly. Can s/he bring the children?

Please add your caregiver’s name to your family membership — forms are available at the front desk. With the Family Membership level, one caregiver may be added for a $15 fee. Changing a caregiver is subject to an additional $15 fee. With the Family Plus and Family Plus Premium membership levels, a caregiver may be added free of charge.

Can I lend my card to my friends?

No, membership cards are not transferable and are good only for members of your immediate family.

How can I renew my membership?

You can renew your membership in person, over the phone, or online. If you renew in person you will receive a temporary membership card. If you renew online you will receive an automatic email confirmation. Both the temporary membership card and email confirmation contain all the information needed to use your membership at reciprocal museums

How can I find out when my membership expires? How can I find out what level of membership I have?

Is my membership tax deductible?

The Museum is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Your membership dues or a portion of them may be tax deductible. We recommend that you consult your tax advisor for further information.

Are there other giving opportunities?

Can I have a party at the Museum?

Yes, one of the benefits of membership is discounts on Birthday Parties. The Museum is also available for Museum Rentals.

Where else can I use my membership?

Membership at the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum entitles you to free or reduced admission at over 290 ASTC science and technology centers. With the Family Plus Premium Membership, you are entitled to reduced admission at over 200 ACM Children’s Museums and 180 ANCA nature centers. Are museums located within 90 miles of Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum excluded from the ASTC reciprocal program?

Reciprocation with the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum and science centers/museums within 90 miles is 50% off general admission by mutual agreement. There are no distance restrictions with ACM museums or ANCA nature centers.

How soon will I get my membership card after online purchase?

Your new membership card will be mailed within 7–10 days of your purchase. Please print your membership purchase receipt — it is your temporary membership card.
